Summer Is Over. The Exploring Isn't.

What if school didn't have to stop at the classroom door?

That question was at the heart of FCE’s summer—and it’s exactly where our next adventure begins.

This summer, our campers made movies that were screened at The Orpheum, investigated fascinating “ologies,” made and recorded music, and got their hands dirty with clay. They experimented, created, explored, asked questions, made messes, solved problems, and discovered new things about themselves along the way.

A Summer Full of Big Ideas

Every week of FCE Summer Camp was built around a different way of seeing and experiencing the world.

Videography & Photography — telling stories and learning to see the world through a camera.

The Ologies — diving into fascinating fields of science and discovering just how much there is to explore.

Music Makers — experimenting with sound, rhythm, instruments, and creative collaboration.

Ceramics — working with clay, learning new techniques, and discovering what happens when creativity meets patience.

The projects were different, but the goal was the same: Give kids something worth being curious about and then let them run with it.

Now We're Taking Learning Into the Community

Summer camp may be over, but the adventures are just beginning.

This September, FCE launches Pine Forest Explorers, a new weekly enrichment program created with Pine Forest School.

And this isn't traditional after-school care. It's an invitation to explore Flagstaff.

Each month, students will dive into a new theme and head out into the community to learn from local experts, visit interesting places, try new experiences, and connect what they're learning to the world around them.

Then we bring that experience back with us.

Students will Create. Play. Pause.

They'll turn their experiences into artwork, experiments, games, challenges, conversations, and hands-on activities—because the best field trips don't end when you get back on the bus.

They stay with you.

First Stop: The Great Outdoors

We're kicking things off in September with Outdoor Survival.

Students will learn wilderness safety, navigation, shelter building, fire and water skills, and basic wilderness first aid while developing confidence, problem-solving skills, and a deeper connection to the outdoors.

It's learning they can actually use.

And it's the kind of learning that's hard to forget.

This Is What FCE Does

We don't think kids need more ways to sit still. We think they need more reasons to get curious. More opportunities to build something. More chances to meet the people who make their community interesting. More experiences that turn “I wonder…” into “Let's find out.”

That's what FCE has always been about. And as summer comes to a close, we're excited to keep exploring.
